Heritage Christian Academy is a ministry of Second Baptist Church, under the leadership of

Pastor Richard Parsons.  HCA has been used by God to train hundreds of boys and girls in the Jackson County area  since 1975. It began as a burden of several parents and Pastor Ken Derrington to provide a quality Christian education for  children of all ages.

The first student body consisted of 43 kindergarten through  eleventh graders. During the first year, the classes were held in the facilities of the  Second Baptist Church. The following year, a new building was built. Other additions  have included more classrooms, a lunchroom and a gymnasium.

The first graduating class for Heritage Christian Academy was the class of 1976.  Throughout the years of the school's existence, HCA graduates have distinguished  themselves in many areas. Because of the school's longevity, HCA graduates are now  sending their children to the school.

Heritage Christian Academy is an active member of the West Virginia Association of  Christian Schools and the American Association of Christian Schools. The school is  primarily college preparatory in its emphasis, and its graduates are required to meet all  graduation requirements for the State of West Virginia.

Our Mission

The ultimate goal and purpose of Heritage Christian Academy is to educate boys and  girls to prepare them for adulthood, leading students to a personal  relationship with Jesus Christ and training them to understand the intellect of God and the  Biblical way of life. Our desire is to work with the parents in every aspect of the child’s development, helping to equip them in identifying, evaluating, and relating to both  opportunities and obstacles they may encounter in life.
